What To Bring To Your Newborn Photography Session

advice from a brisbane newborn photographer

Congratulations, you've booked your newborn photographer!

But wait... What do you bring?
There is a lot of confusion among new parents about the items they need to bring to their newborn photography sessions.

THE CHECKLIST BELOW SHOULD HELP YOU BE AS PREPARED AS POSSIBLE FOR YOUR PHOTO SHOOT.

  • This one is a no brainer - but as a mum, I know how easy it is to go somewhere with a newborn and forget literally everything! I have plenty of backups if you need, but if your newborn has any allergies it is best to make sure you bring the nappies/wipes they are using at home.

  • Description text goes hereNothing in particular, just for in transit from car to studio or during feeds so they are comfortable.

  • Even if you don't intend to use one at all or permanently, dummies are amazing for soothing in between posing and feeds. If you don't have any, and don't wish to buy any, I do have some brand new ones on hand at all times. Some babies will go through an entire session without needing any soothing help, but just as a backup.

  • Expressed or Formula, whichever you are currently going with. In my experience, babies who are fed on a bottle (formula or breastmilk) during the session time will actually take in what they are needing and be more settled. Breastfed babies like to fall asleep on the boob, and as soon as they are removed they wake up and remain hungry.

  • Sessions can be long, and it's really important that as a new mum you are keeping on top of your nutrition and hydration. Cold water and mints are provided in my studio but you are also welcome to bring along your own assortment of snacks or order uber eats/menu log.

Don't stress if you happen to forget any of the items listed above!

In my studio, I have extra everything. I'm a mum, and I know how many times I went somewhere and forgot the entire nappy bag.. I've got you covered!

If you haven’t yet booked a newborn photographer…I’d love to connect with you and help answer any questions you may have.
