Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time for a newborn photoshoot?
The optimal window for your Newborn Photoshoot is when your baby is between 5 to 20 days old. Beyond this timeframe, newborns tend to be more challenging to settle, and conditions like colic and baby acne may become more pronounced. Sessions beyond this time frame are not impossible, they are just likely to consist of more family/wrapped poses.
What if my baby is past the optimal time frame for a photoshoot?
No need to worry! I have experience photographing babies who are well out of my optimal window. In these cases, the sessions are more inclined to focus on family poses and a wrapped baby. We can’t prevent situations like extended hospital stays etc so I will not turn your baby away.
What if my baby cries or doesn’t settle?
This is only natural and doesn't tend to last the entire session. If baby cries and no amount of soothing, changing or feeding changes this we can simply reschedule your session as it may be that they are just having a rough day and need some time to feel better. Most often with some time, patience and perseverance all babies will settle and we will be able to continue. As a worst-case scenario, I always reserve a 3 hour window for newborn sessions.
Can we bring grandparents to have photos as well?
Newborn sessions are exclusive to two adults only, usually the parents of the newborn.
Do you offer payment plans?
I currently provide the option of Afterpay, which enables you to divide your session into for equal fortnightly payments. If you prefer not to use a third-party credit service, I also offer pre-session payment plans for those who schedule their session in advance. Post-session payment plans can also be discussed if needed, however no editing will begin until final payment has been made.
Are you whooping cough vaccinated?
I absolutely am. As I work with children, I get a whooping cough booster every 5 years instead of the recommended 10 years. I am also up to date with all schedule vaccines including 3 covid vaccinations - along with my entire household.
Do we receive the raw/unedited files in addition to the edited images in our chosen package?
I do not provide unedited JPG or raw files, even for an additional fee. I take pride in delivering a comprehensive service, and fully edited images are an integral part of that service.
None of my clothes fit! Am I able to wear a dress from your client wardrobe for the session?
Absolutely! Don’t add extra stress trying to find something to wear for your session when I have a whole wardrobe available for you. Just come with your hair/makeup done and some skin toned underwear under your comfy clothes.
Are sessions available on weekends?
Not regularly, but sometimes a Saturday morning session may be available. These are VERY rare and do attract a $100 surcharge on top of your chosen package.
What are the usual available session times?
Sessions usually start at 9am in the warmer months and 10am in the cooler months.
How long do sessions go for?
Session times are baby led and can take anywhere between 1 hour and 3 hours.
