Hospital Bag Essentials
advice from a brisbane newborn photographer
We recognise that the anticipation of your baby's arrival can evoke a mix of emotions, including excitement, anxiety, and joy, among others. However, ensuring that you are well-prepared and organised prior to your baby's birth will contribute to a more relaxed and comfortable experience for both you and your partner in the days following the delivery.
New mothers often find themselves uncertain about what to pack for their hospital stay. To alleviate this concern, we have developed a list of essentials for you and your baby, simplifying the process so that you can focus on what truly matters, without getting bogged down by minor details.
For Mum
Comfortable PJ’s/Loose Nightie (Or if you’re like me just a really oversized mens tee)
Jumper (sometimes the hospital can be a bit on the cold side)
Comfortable, feeding friendly clothes (oversize tees and loose fitting button up shirts are great)
Loose underwear + Maternity Pads or Adult Diapers or Period Undies
Nursing bras/Nursing pads/Nipple Cream - if you’re planning on breastfeeding
Non-Slip Socks
Slippers
Phone, charger (with a long cord) and headphones
Toiletries - Lip Balm, Shampoo/Conditioner, Toothbrush/paste, Hair Brush, Hair Ties, Moisturiser
Own Pillow (This was my personal favourite, just added a bit of home comfort that I really needed)
For Baby
Going home outfit
Socks
Singlets
Onesies
Nappies (8-10 per day)
Burping cloth
Swaddles
Pack of wipes
Nappy balm
Bottles/Formula (if you’re planning on formula feeding from birth)
